C.S Shattuck, Model ''American'', CAL: 8GA, MFG: 1880-1908, SN: 633, Break Action Single Shot Shotgun, 36 1/4'' barrel. The upper tang is marked ''C.S SHATTUCK HATFIELD MASS'' & the top of the barrel is marked ''AMERICAN''. The round knob stock/forend are good & solid. There are multiple small cracks around the receiver, tangs & buttplate. There are other contusions, scrapes & dings, with an added layer of finish or varnish that's wearing thin/flaking in some areas. The London Twist barrel has fully toned to a chocolate brown patina, with the twist pattern still prominent. The case-hardened frame retains visible case-colors, with spotting toned to a brown patina. Bore is very good. The barrel holds a single front bead. The front trigger breaks the barrel & the rear trigger fires the gun. Stock carries a oversized smooth metal buttplate. Notice: London Twist barrels are not safe to shoot smokeless powder or steel shot. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 600 to 1000
