W.H. Davenport Fire Arms Co., Single Barrel Shotgun, CAL: 8 GA, MFG: 1890-1909, S/N: 0307, Break Action Single Shot, 35 3/4'' twisted steel barrel. The checkered round knob wood stocks are very good & solid, having been lightly sanded & refinished. The checkering is smooth, with one small grain crack coming off the upper tang, alongside multiple smoothed contusions, dings, scratches & scrapes. The barrel/receiver have been polished to a shiny gun metal gray, with intermittent pitting & some areas toned to a thin brown patina. There are remnants of the twisted steel pattern on the barrel. Top of barrel is marked ''THE W.H.DAVENPORT FIRE ARMS CO. NORWICH CONN.U.S.A.'', ''PATENTED AUG.11.1896''. The bottom of the barrel is marked ''8''. Bore is very good with light roughness & pitting towards the chamber. Barrel holds a bead front sight. Stock carries a checkered plastic buttplate. Lockup has a small amount of play. LOP: 14 1/8'', DAH: 2 1/2'', DAC: 2''. Twisted steel barrels are not safe to shoot smokeless loads or steel shot out of. FFL or C&R Req - Value: 1000 to 1500
