RARE Remington, Model 870 COMPETITION TRAP, CAL: 12 GA, MFG: 1982, SN: V923098V, Pump Action Shotgun, 2 3/4'', Choke: FULL, 30'' Ventilated rib & ported barrel. The 870 Competition Trap was a single shot trap gun that can be thought of as a hybrid between an 870 & a 1100. A gas recoil reduction system is located where the magazine tube would normally be, rendering the gun to a single shot capacity. Approx 5500 of these guns were made between 1981 & 86. Some gas system parts are unique, as is the barrel. Very unique & short lived. The original checkered & flat pistol grip wood stocks are excellent. They exhibit fantastic rippled & flame grain, sharp checkering, & very few minor handling blemishes to the original high gloss finish. The original metal blue finish rates 97% overall, with the barrel blue starting to tone to a plum/brown. There is a quarter size are of cleaned rust pitting on the upper left side of the receiver, Bore is excellent. The barrel rib holds a silver mid bead & white front bead. Stock carries a Pachmayr recoil pad, behind a 13/16'' spacer, total LOP: 14 7/8'' over pad. With just 5,500 ''Competition'' shotguns produced out of 11,000,000+ M870s produced, it makes this a rare variant for the Remington & 870 collector. FFL Req. - Value: 1000 to 2000
