BOXED Remington, Model 1100, Limited Edition Diamond Anniversary, Limited One of Three Thousand, 12 GA., 2 3/4'', MFG. 1980, SN: LE80-2986, Semi-Auto. 28'' Matted ventilated rib barrel, In 1980 Remington introduced in their catalog ''The First Model 1100 in the Collector's Field grade, a factory custom ordered 1100 to honor the ''75 years in pursuit of excellence in autoloading shotguns''. It was paying tribute to the introduction of the model 11 in 1905, thru the production of the model 1100 being produced at the time. It featured deep relief etching, highlighted by gold,& richly figured walnut, with positive cut checkering. This shotgun came out of the box, factory grease was whipped off & it was assembled for the first time for photograph for this auction. The original checkered & wood capped pistol grip stocks are basically mint. The wood displays fantastic grain & color contrast. The original metal blue finish rates 99%, with the barrel aging a bit plum. Bore is mint. Single white front bead on rib. Stock carries a thin red solid recoil pad. Basically NOS in the original factory box & with the original paperwork. The outer sleeve of the box is tattered, torn & has some missing chunks. A truly beautiful shotgun & fine collectible.
