RARE! K.L Shelton, Kentucky Rifle, CAL: 50, MFG: 1982, SN: NONE, Flintlock Muzzleloader, 36'' octagon barrel. Ken Shelton of Tucson, AZ has been building custom muzzleloaders since the 1970's. By 2008, he had sold 38 rifles. At the time, orders for Ken's rifles started at $5500, with a two year completion period. This specific example was made by Ken in 1982, & it was Ken's personal hunting rifle from 1982-1994. The tiger maple wood stock is excellent, with minor handling marks & scrapes to the finish. The stock has creative inlays, with a silver star on the left side of the stock & three inlaid hearts, one on each side of the stock & one on the belly ahead of the trigger guard. The metal blue finish on the barrel & lock plate has fully toned to a brown/plum patina. The brass hardware is bright, with light spotting toned to a thin brown patina. Bore is excellent. Fixed rear sight & silver blade front sight. Double set trigger, with post front trigger. A wonderful example of a custom flintlock rifle. Ken was often seen at The Safari Club International convention in Reno, NV. Black powder, No FFL Req. - Value: 2000 to 5500
