SCARCE Remington, Model: No.5, M1902 Rolling block Carbine, Uruguay Contract, Cal: 7x57mm Mauser, MFG: 1901-17, S/N:440, Single shot rifle, 20 '' barrel. The straight wrist wood stock is very good with a tight crack in the upper handguard, runs almost full length. There is another small crack on the bottom of the wrist that emanates from the lower tang. The right cheek of stock is marked with a half faded Uruguayan Army roundel cartouche that reads ''EJERCITO URUGUAY''. The metal has worn to a gun metal gray with pitting & rust around spots of the stock line. The top of the wrist tang is marked ''REMINGTON ARMS CO.'', ''ILLION.N.Y.U.S.A.'', & patent info. The top of the barrel is marked ''CAL 7MM'', ''440'', markings are worn/faded. The bore is very good. Its bright with strong rifling, but has roughness throughout. The barrel holds a barleycorn front sight with a ladder V-notch rear sight marked 2 to 13. The stock carries a steel buttplate, worn gray with spotty patina. Rifle has both right side sling loops. A hard contract gun to find & good shootable condition, a rare find. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 750 to 1500
