The top of the wrist is marked ''4035'', the bottom of the wrist is marked with a worn stamping over ''N2'', over a broad arrow. The bottom of the forend is marked ''S.I''. the front barrel band is missing a piece & is held on with a piece of wire. The black phosphate finish rates 85% overall with areas of thinning & patina speckling. The left side of the wrist band is marked with the S/N, ''S'', ''1942'', & a small flaming bomb. The left side of the receiver is marked ''FTR'' over ''M'', ''No4MkI*''. The top of the receiver band is marked ''A'' over ''19'' in parenthesis, ''ENGLAND'' & a British crown proof. The right end of the barrel is marked with more British import/proofing marks. S/N mismatched bolt ''47C3044''. The bore is excellent. Bright with no visible roughness. 5 groove rifling. The barrel holds a square post front sight. With a receiver mounted, flip up aperture real sight, marked 2 to 13. The stock carries a brass trapdoor buttplate, has black plastic oiler bottler inside. The rifle has both bottom sling loops. Rifle comes with period correct canvas sling, & a savage made No.4 MKII bayonet & sheath. A very nice US made SMLE. FFL or C&R Req - Value: 300 to 600
