Tula, Model: M91/30 Mosin, Spanish civil war, Cal: 7.62x54mmR, MFG: 1937, S/N: 65106, bolt action rifle, 29 barrel.
HISTORY: During the Spanish civil war (1936-39), the USSR shipped Hundreds of thousands of rifles to the Republican forces to help them win. This rifle likely being one having the marking ''MADE in U.S.S.R.''. After Nationalists forces of Franco won, they rounded up all the rifles they had, refurbished them & stamped with a ''MP/8'' in flaming bomb on the stock.
CONDITION: the straight wrist, birch stock is very good with small nicks, dings, scratches, & wear from use/age. The left cheek of the stock has a partially worn ''MP'', ''8'' in flaming bomb stamp. The blued metal finish rates 85% overall with spots of light thinning & patina/rust speckling. The top of the receiver band is marked ''MADE IN'', ''U.S.S.R.''. The top of the barrel is marked with a few small proofs, Tula arrow in star stamp, ''1937'', ''No'', & the S/N. all serialized parts are mismatching, does have a fully Tula marked bolt. The bore is good. Its bright with consistent light roughness throughout. The barrel holds a Spanish replaced; wide blade front sight, & a Tangent U-notch rear sight marked 1 to 20. The stock carries a blued steel buttplate, has wear. Top tang of buttplate has one crossed out S/N & other stamped. Rifle has Russian sling wells. Rifle has a cleaning rod. A very nice example of a Spanish civil war survivor Mosin. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 450 to 900
