Nagoya Arsenal, Model: Type 38, Cal: 6.5x50mmSR, MFG: Sept 1939-Sept 1940, S/N: 68817 Series 27, Bolt action rifle, 31 1/4'' barrel. The semi-pistol grip wood stock is very good with nicks, dings, scratches, & wear from use/age. The blued metal finish rates 85% overall with spots of wear & brown patina. The top of the receiver band is marked with a intact chrysanthemum & ''TYPE 38'' in Japanese. The left side of the receiver is marked with the series logo, the S/N, & the Nagoya arsenal logo. Bolt is marked ''817'', all marked parts including the stock are S/N matching to the rifle. The bore is fair. It is bright with strong rifling, but has roughness throughout, spots of light pitting & the rifling is worn almost smooth at the muzzle. The barrel holds a barleycorn front sight with protective ears, & a flip up Aperture ladder rear sight marked 5 to 24. stock carries a cupped blued steel buttplate, has wear & patina around edges. Rifle has both sling loops, & has the cleaning jag. FFL or C&R Req.
History: This is a later production Type 38 with some of the upgrades you'd normally see on a type 99, mainly the aperture sight, protected front sight & the cupped buttplate. A very nice example of a all matching Type 38 with intact mum. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 300 to 600
