Nagoya Arsenal, Model: Type 38 Carbine, Cal: 6.5x50mmSR, MFG: 1940-42, S/N: 48908 5th Series, Bolt action rifle, 19 1/4'' barrel. The semi-pistol grip Japanese Walnut stock is good with nicks, dings, scratches & wear from use/wear. Stock has darkened from added oils & age. Stock toe joint has a large gap & is slightly loose. Toe has chips on edge on the right side of the stock. All metal parts are toning/toned to a brown patina, is covered in light pitting, cleaned pitting scars, but some thinned finish remans in areas. The top of the receiver band is marked with a intact chrysanthemum & ''TYPE 38'' in Japanese. The left side of the receiver is marked with the series logo, the S/N, the Nagoya arsenal logo, & a small inspection mark. The bolt & dust cover are marked ''908''. The bore is fair. Its bright with worn rifling & pitting/roughness throughout the bore. The barrel holds a barleycorn front sight with a flip up V-notch ladder rear sight marked 5 to 20. the stock carried a steel cupped buttplate, toned brown with roughness. Rifle has both side sling loops. Missing cleaning rod. Very rare to find a Type 38 with a matching bolt, dust cover & intact Mum, likely a vet bring back. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 300 to 600
