N.Gilon, Colt Brevete 1851 Navy, CAL: 36, MFG: N/A, SN: 57151, Single Action Revolver, 7 1/2'' octagon barrel. Copy of a Colt 1851 Navy. The top of the barrel is marked in two lines ''A.LIEGE'' over '' N.GILON SYSTEME BREVETE''. Proof marks on cylinder that alternate ''Crown/A'' & Greek letter PSI. The frame, barrel, backstrap & cylinder all display simple floral hand engraving. All text & numbers appear to be either hand engraved or done with electric pencil. The only marking that looks stamped is the SN on the butt. The period correct wood grips are very good. They appear to have been lightly sanded & refinished at one time, leaving the metal proud to the wood in some areas. There are contusions, light scrapes & dings to the oil finish. The metal finish is a mix of applied blue, metal gray & brown patina. The revolvers metal surfaces appear to have been cleaned, with finish applied at one time. The nickel plated trigger guard retains approximately 70% coverage of the nickel plating. Bore is fair, dark & rough. Small brass cone front sight. This example can be found in Colt Brevete Revolvers by Roy Marcot. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 1000 to 2000
