Smith & Wesson, Model MK II Hand Ejector 2nd Model, CAL: 455 Webley, MFG: 1908-15, SN: 58785, Double Action Revolver, 6 1/2'' barrel. This example was from the second batch of S&W .455 revolvers that were sent to England in 1915. There were a total of appx 55,000 pistols supplied to Britain. The first batch (Triple Lock) was the Mk I, & these HE models were designated Mk II. The revolvers carries the standard S&W address & patent date on top[ of the barrel. The left side of the barrel is marked ''SMITH & WESSON .455''. The S&W trademark logo can be seen on the right side of the frame. The left side of the frame by the knuckle is marked with British acceptance marks & the standard Mk II stamp. There are also proofs on the left side of the frame, ahead of the cylinder & below the latch is the double Broad Arrow mark that designates it was sold out of service. The S&W logo medallion checkered wood grips are very good. There is a small edge chip on the top front edge of the right grip, along with other contusions & dings. The original metal blue finish rates 90% overall. Bore is very good & bright, with intermittent roughness. U-notch groove rear sight & blade front sight. Lanyard loop present. A nice example of a WWI era British used Mk II. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 1100 to 1500
