Fa de Trocaolo Aranzabal y Cia Eibar, British Mk. 1 No. 1, CAL: 455 Webley, MFG: 1914, SN: 19, Double Action Revolver, 5 1/8'' barrel. During WWI, England was short of revolvers & ordered from the USA & Spain. From the USA, they received the Colt 1917 & S&W in.455. From Spain, there were four suppliers for the guns the British refferred to as ''Old Pattern'' No.1 Mk. 1 & No.2 Mk.1. This example is a No.1 Mk.1. It displays British military acceptance marks on the left side of the frame near the knuckle, rear face of the cylinder & barrel rib. The Old Pattern revolvers were ordered in 1915 & it's unknown what the total was amongst the four different suppliers from Spain. There were quality issues with many of pistols, resulting in rejections by the British inspectors. However, this example was accepted into military service. Virtually identical to the No.1 Mk.1 pistols from the other Spanish manufacturers, the only detail difference being from Trocaolo was the date was inset into the top of the grips, rather than a company monogram. These pistols did not have serial numbers, but did carry part & assembly numbers. The original checkered plastic grips are good & solid. There are a couple small cracks, contusions, dings & layers beginning to show/separate. The grips are dated ''1914''. The metal finish has fully worn to metal gray, with areas toned to a thin brown patina & intermittent cleaned pitting. Bore is good, bright, but consistently rough. Small notch rear sight & marge round blade front sight. Lanyard loop present. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 300 to 600
