CASED, Colt, Thuer Derringer (3rd Model), CAL: .41 RF, MFG: 1870's-80's, SN: 1589, Single Shot Pistol, 2 1/2'' barrel. The bird's head wood grips are excellent. There are a few minor dings to the finish. The original nickel finish rates 98% overall, with only a couple small spots of flaking. The case-hardened hammer retains excellent case colors. Bore is good, with intermittent spotting & speckling. Blade front sight. The backstrap is engraved, although it can't be attributed to anyone due to lack of evidence from research. The backstrap is engraved with ''S.M.S.B R G.C.S.I.J''. The special order engraving is consistent with examples of Colt factory engraving. Comes in original derringer wood case, with blue interior & Colt label with London address. The case is originally for a pair of derringers, but only one is present. Included in the case is a small plaque that reads ''MAHARAJAH OF JAIPUR''. A high condition Derringer with an untold story. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 1000 to 1500
