CASED, Colt Black Powder Arms Co., 1861 Navy, 3rd Gen - General Custer Special Edition, CAL: 36, MFG: Modern, SN: 45752, Percussion Single Shot Revolver, 7 1/2'' barrel. This revolver has been fully & expertly restored. The top of the barrel is marked ''ADDRESS SAM L COLT NEW-YORK U.S AMERICA''. The checkered & carved wood grips are excellent, having been lightly sanded & refinished. The restored blued finish is excellent. In preparation for the reblue process, some of the engravings are thin from polishing. All matching SN on the frame, barrel, trigger guard & butt. Bore is very good, with frost/haze. V-notch rear sight on hammer & small blade front sight. Comes in a Colt marked wood case, with powder flask, cap tin, tool, bullet mould & key. Black Powder, No FFL Req.
History: Louis Imperato who owned Iver Johnson at the time, sold the Iver Johnson name & renamed the company that produced the 3rd Generation Series, the ''Colt Black Powder Arms Company''. The Signature Series is considered to be the Third Generation, made by ''Colt Black powder Arms Company'' in Brooklyn, New York. Although it used the name ''Colt'' is was not a Colt owned company as mentioned above. Black Powder, No FFL Req. - Value: 300 to 600
