RARE!! US, D.J. Millard, M1860 Cavalry Saber with scabbard. U.S. Inspector CEW 1862, grooved wood handle turned black from added oils over time, grip has deformed from wear & chips. Brass guard with dings & light patina toning. Blade has toned to a mixture of dark & brown patina & cleaned pitting scars/roughness. The scabbard is mostly gray steal with spots of patina. The left side of the blade is marked ''D.J. MILLARD'', ''CLAYVILLE NY''. The right side of blade marked ''US'', ''C.E.W.'', ''1862''. The bottom of pommel has two ''C.E.W.'' stamps. The scabbard is marked ''43''. Over 300,000 M1860 Sabers would be made, D.J. Millard was given a small contract of just 10,000 swords in 1862. Grade: Very Good ++ - Value: 700 to 1400
