US, Friedrich Pather, M1850 Foot Officer's Sword, brass wire wrapped leather grip, grips has rub/use wear & aging patina. Brass handguard with a decorative floral & ''US'' design, brass has dark patina in protected areas, & overall has a aged patina. The blade has a etched decorative floral design with images of crossed halberds & flags, as well as ''US''. Left side of blade is marked with a Hare's head over ''F.P.''. The blade has beginnings of dark patina forming. Blade has a kink & bend to the left at the mid point. These swords would be issued to all officers ranked Major or below between 1851 to 1865. This was one of the most seen officers swords during the Civil war. Grade: Very Good ++ - Value: 200 to 400
