Description

RARE Winchester, Model 1873, SHORT RIFLE, Third variation, .38 Cal., MFG. 1884, SN: 153008, Lever Action Rifle, 20'' Round barrel, Full mag. The original wood stocks are excellent & solid with minor handling marks. The original blue metal finish is 20% on the barrel & mag mostly toned brown, with some rust pit scaring. Receiver & special order Shotgun metal buttplate retain 50% of their blue with typical Winchester striation loss. Bore is very good with strong rifling & some roughness. Original adjustable buckhorn rear & standard front sight. Original dust cover slides smoothly. Tight smooth action. British proofs on left side of barrel & one atop the front of receiver. Rifle comes with a Winchester Cody Factory letter confirming this gun's rare configuration. Very nice eye appeal on this rare short rifle in high original collector condition* No FFL Req. - Value: 4000 to 8000
