Winchester, Model 1895 Take-down, marked 405 WCF, MFG. 1926, SN: 421975, Lever Action, 24'' round barrel, Wood is excellent, solid & original, with inlayed ebony forend tip. The original finish has thinned & the metal is slightly proud to the wood along the tangs. There is a 1'' hairline crack on the left wrist, a 2'' crack & small chip at the forend tip & light handling scuffs. The original metal blue finish is 85% on the barrel, 40% on receiver, 60% on mag & lever. Bore is excellent. Barrel fitted with an adjustable buckhorn rear & period front sights. Stock carries a metal, widow's peak, shotgun buttplate. Factory eyelets in stock & barrel dovetail. This was John Browning's first design to incorporate a box type mag. Very collectible, in this nice original condition & configuration with Blue Book premiums of 75% for 405 caliber & 20% for take-down. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 2500 to 5000
