Colt Lightning, Small Frame, Marked .22 CAL., MFG. 1895, SN: 21243, Slide Action Rifle, 24'' Tapered Octagon barrel, Half mag. The factory stocks are very good, with the correct border outlined forend & non-checkered straight grip stock. The original finish has worn thin, mostly at the wrist. The forend has a single tightly repaired hairline at front tip to bottom screw, while the stock has a tiny chip at top left shoulder against receiver. There are a few minor handling marks, scratches & contusions. There has been a professional toe repair to stock, which is nearly unnoticeable without knowing it is there. The original metal blue finish on barrel is 70%, 30% on mag & receiver, with areas of lose toning to a thin brown patina. Bore is fair, with visible rifling & roughness. Colt hard rubber buttplate, with a couple of tiny edge chips & a professional repair at toe, which most would not notice. Correct rear & front sights. Smooth tight action. Matching serial number located on lower tang & side of upper tang. One of less than 90,000 produced. Overall, a nice appearance to this mostly original & sound antique rifle. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 1500 to 3000
