Description

Winchester, Model 57, marked .22 SHORT Cal., MFG. 1928, SN: 3095, Bolt Action Rifle, Mag fed, 22'' barrel, with barrel band. The flat pistol grip & military style walnut wood stock is excellent, original & solid, with excellent original finish & several small finish level only scuffs or contusions. The original metal blue finish is 70% on barrel, with loss due to spotty thinning & flacking. The receiver retains 85%. Triggerguard & floorplate retain 65%. Bore is excellent, Stock is factory cutaway on left side of receiver for the correct & rare factory mounted Lyman peep sight. Barrel carries a folding rear & blade front sights. Sling swivels. Push button mag release & correct Winchester marked 5 shot mag. Checkered steel buttplate. Only 18,600 model 57 rifles were produced between 1927-36 with a relatively small percentage produced in Short Only, which was discontinued in 1930. This is a very nice, all original condition & rare collector's example. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 600 to 1200
