Remington, Model 4S Military Model, .22 SHORT, MFG 1913-23, SN: none, 28'' Round barrel, Rolling block single shot rifle. The model 4 was made from 1890 to 1933 in several variation & evolutions. This case-colored, l4S Military Model version was made from 1913 to 23. The wood stocks are very good & solid, but the rifle is missing the half length handguard atop the barrel & the forend barrel ring has been replaced.. The stocks have been lightly sanded & nicely refinished long ago, with numerous small handling mark, mostly along the forend. There are a couple of tight 1/2'' hairline crack & two small wood chips at the corners of the forend against the receiver. The buttstock has a filled sling hole & the rifle is missing the bayonet lug from the bottom of the barrel. The original metal blue finish on barrel displays a thin brown patina at about 50% coverage, while the case-hardened receiver has worn or been scrubbed mostly gray with some brown patina. Bore is very good. Barrel carries an adjustable flip-up rear & standard front sights. The stock carries an ''S'' shaped Remington UMC metal buttplate. These 4s Military Models were thought to have been used at Boys Academies to train cadets & are fairly rare & in high demand amongst Remington collectors. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 400 to 1200
