J. Stevens A & T Co., Tip-Up 101, .44 Shot Cal., MFG. 1914, SN: 540, Falling Block Take-Down Rifle, 26'' smoothbore barrel, Single brass bead. Built on a NO. 12 Marksman frame. Take-down screw & receiver are tight. Low three digit SN & first year rifle. The wood stocks are very good, with thinning original finish on stock & relatively few nicks, dings or contusions. Forend has a darker appearance & may have been replaced, simply refinished or simply is darker as it appears original. Factory metal finish retained at 70% on barrel while the receiver has toned to a spotty brown patina. Bore is very good. Original factory buttplate. Unique & collectible variation of a tip-up rifle.
